DiBcom announced that its latest generation Mobile TV receiver enables free-to-air digital TV broadcasts on LG’s extremely sophisticated, new multimedia handset - the LG KB770 ( left ).
In this respect, the KB770 is very much like its predecessor the HB620T which also uses DiBcom’s state-of-the-art components. However, its new PDA-style format and large 3″ 400×240 pixel touchscreen display are undoubtedly even better suited to television and broadcast content and serve to provide an exceptional viewing experience.

By featuring DiBcom’s DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial) receiver, the LG KB770 is equipped to reliably receive the standard free-to-air terrestrial digital TV signal that covers most European countries. With support for WCDMA 2100 and for GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and HSPDA data - this 3G/3G+ multi-band device is likely to become very popular on the European market where it will be launched in November.
With the popularity of DVB-T handsets in Germany, 1SEG handsets in Japan, and T-DMB in Korea, it is clear that free-to-air TV is an excellent way to generate widespread interest in Mobile TV, and attract growing numbers of users. However, it has also been proven that free services are not sustainable, and a revenue stream is necessary for successful long term deployment.
The LG KB770 will be available in Germany from November onwards.

LG Electronics unveiled the world’s first transparent design phone, the LG-GD900, at the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona, Spain.
Having introduced a selection of highly acclaimed and stylish phones, LG makes a bold step in the design category by introducing yet another innovative aesthetic concept, transparency. This crystal, glass-like phone proves that stylish design can be achieved not only with the use of vivid colors, but also by revealing the handset in its purest form. Once imagined but never seen before, the LG-GD900 is expected to make a new fashion statement. With the debut of the LG-GD900 at the Mobile World Congress 2009, LG will strengthen its leadership in the mobile industry by expanding its design portfolio.
Transparent yet eye-catching, the LG-GD900 will stand out from the crowd, and so will those who carry it. When opened, its sliding, translucent keypad illuminates a cool glow that reflects the phone’s sleek and polished silver body. But first-rate design was not the only thing in mind when creating the LG-GD900. It also lives up to the highest level of technical features expected in a premium calibre handset, including its dedicated Bluetooth headset.
The LG-GD900 is scheduled for release during the second quarter of 2009

fring today announced the launch of a brand new version of its award winning social community and communication service for the new and incredibly successful Nokia 5800 touch screen device.
This has been one of the most hotly anticipated fring launches ever; as soon as Nokia announced the launch of its 5800, fring’s forums, Twitter and Facebook pages have been red hot with fringsters asking for a new fring version to run on the device.
In response, fring created an early access group of around 100 users to receive R&D versions of the release and provide feedback during the development phase, helping fring to bring its 5800 version to market as quickly as possible and in line with exactly what users really wanted.
The result is a newly designed fring that takes advantage of all of the 5800’s great touch screen features, such as the ability to tilt the screen from profile to landscape and use of the on-screen keyboard.
A video of fring can be viewed here
